2.Korea-Denmark Visa Waiver Information (only for Danish nationals)

  • On 1 October 1969, an Exchange of Notes on the Waiver of Visa Requirements was signed between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark. On the note Danish nationals can visit the Republic of Korea without visa for duration of up to 90 days or less if the purpose of the trip is for tourism/ business meeting/attendance at a conference/visiting families,relatives.(Extension of stay is not permitted).  A person who wishes to work or to engage in profit making activities is requested to apply for an appropriate entry visa.


3. Temporary Exemption of K-ETA(Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) Approval for Danish Nationals until 31 Dec 2025 *Check & Ask question on K-ETA Website*

  • What is K-ETA? : From Sep 2021, nationals of visa waiver countries and designated visa-free countries/regions must obtain K-ETA before entering the Republic of Korea. K-ETA is an electronic travel authorization that visa-free foreign visitors need to obtain before entering Korea, by submitting relevant information online such as their travel information.
    Purpose of travel should be tourism, visiting a family member, participating in events or meetings, or commercial business (excluding pursuit of profit).

  • How to Apply : Apply on the official K-ETA website (www.k-eta.go.kr) at least 72 hours prior to take your flight or ship bound for Korea. Please apply for the K-ETA with plenty of time in advance.

  • K-ETA Temporary Exemption for Danish national is extended to December 31, 2025(WED) (KST).

  • Those who are subject to the exemption will get a pop-up message when they select their nationality during the application process on K-ETA website.

  • Still, those who wish to receive benefits from K-ETA approval, such as not having to submit an arrival card,may apply for K-ETA;in that case, the application fee will be charged.

  • If you have a question about K-ETA, Use Online Inquiry Form(CLICK) on K-ETA website. K-ETA is not assessed/approved by the Embassy.



4. VISA APPLICATION PROCESS


  • Which Visa type should I apply for? : Check "Visa Navigator" on Visa Portal (CLICK) If you are unsure. Visa eligibility depends on your nationality.

  • HOW LONG VISA ISSUANCE TAKES? : Up to 15 days in working days from the application date If your application meets the requirement . It may take longer If you fail to submit the required documents.

  • Application Eligibility for non-Danish : Must be a resident in Denmark. 

And non-EU/EEA nationals must reside in Denmark more than 2 years.

  • How do I submit the application? : By visiting Consular Section in person, make an appointment in advance If you are visiting after 2 Jan 2025(Relevant Notice : CLICK). - Application by post is impossible.

  • Can  I receive a visa soon as possible? : NO emergency/expedited visa issuance available - your application will be REJECTED If there is an urge, solicitation, or coercion.

  • Will I receive the notice when visa is issued? : NO. Consular Officer will inform you the scheduled visa issuance date upon your application submission.  You only get contacted when there is an issue with application.

  • Submitted visa application documents and fee are non-returnable.

  • After receiving a visa : If you lose your Visa Grant Notice, then follow this guide(CLICK) to print out.

-Submit these cards' copies with presenting the original to Consular Officer.

-If you are non EU/EEA nationals, you must have lived in Denmark more than 2 years to apply at Korean Embassy to Denmark. Otherwise, you need to apply  at the Korean Embassy in your home country.

-For EU nationals, only Yellow Health Card and copy is required.

-Payment Method : MobilePay or Cash(DKK)

-Fee varies with your nationality and visa type. Hence It will be confirmed upon application submission. 

-For Danish Nationals : 280DKK (Single entry, less than 90 days) / 420DKK (Single entry, more than 90 days)

Agreement

C-1 

Short-Term News Coverage

Eligibility: ① A person dispatched from a foreign newspaper, broadcasting channel, journal, and other media to cover/report news. ② A person to cover and report news under contract with foreign media. ③ A person to stay for a short period of time to establish a branch in ROK.

Short-Term Visit

Nationals of K-ETA eligible countries do not need to apply for C-3 type visa, but must apply for K-ETA online. (Except for K-ETA exempt countries including Denmark)

  • Eligibility: Purpose of your trip in Korea is ONLY Tourism.

  • Financial documents to prove affordability to bear the expenses of trip: Payslip for the last 6 months OR Certificate of Danish Bank Balance with Bank Stamp·Signature (Certificate must include current balance, account holder's information such as your name, CPR number, CPR address)

  • A copy of booking on a round-trip plane ticket

  • Proof of accommodation in Korea (ex- Hotel reservation)

  • Certificate of employment (if you are working in Denmark) or Certificate of student (if you are student in Denmark, it must be from your school)

  • Short-Term General Visa (C-3-1)

  • Eligibility: Purpose of your trip in Korea is to attend a conference or event, etc.

  • Certificate for Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of Korean Company/event organizer, etc. (It must be issued within 3 months of your visa application date)

  • Invitation letter (preferably in Korean) issued by Korean Company (the inviting Company). It must include the period of visit, the purpose/reasons of business meetings, urgency/importance of in-person meetings, detailed daily activity plan during the visit, the expenses that will incur during the visit and who is responsible for them, etc. The invitation letter must be as detailed as possible.

  • Documents proving and introducing events, conference, meetings, etc. (Detachment letter from your employer in Denmark)

  • Certificate of employment (if you are working in Denmark) or Certificate of student (if you are student in Denmark, it must be from your school) or Registration Certificate from Skattestyrelsen (if you run a business in Denmark)

  • A copy of booking on a round-trip plane ticket

  • Proof of accommodation in Korea (ex- Hotel reservation)

  • Financial documents to prove affordability to bear the expenses of trip: Payslip for the last 6 months OR Certificate of Danish Bank Balance with Bank Stamp·Signature (Certificate must include current balance, account holder's information such as your name, CPR number, CPR address) OR Guarantee letter issued by your Company // If your employer in Denmark is financially responsible for your trip to the Republic of Korea, Guarantee Letter issued by your employer must be submitted. It must state financial responsibility by employer, and the company must confirm that the applicant is going to the Republic of Korea for work-related events, conferences, etc.

  • Short-Term Business Visa (C-3-4)

  • Eligibility: Purpose of your trip in Korea is business meeting, market research, consulting, contract, or other similar reasons. (without any profits in return).

  • Certificate for Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of Korean Company/event organizer, etc. (It must be issued within 3 months of your visa application date)

  • Invitation letter (preferably in Korean) issued by Korean Company (the inviting Company). It must include the period of visit, the purpose/reasons of business meetings, urgency/importance of in-person meetings, detailed daily activity plan during the visit, the expenses that will incur during the visit and who is responsible for them, etc. The invitation letter must be as detailed as possible.

  • Participation in Friendly Sport Matches/ Competitions

  • Eligibility: Those wishing to participate in sport matches/competitions held in Korea where cash prize is awarded to participants in a winners list. (Participants won't earn salary more than living expenses , excluding the cash prize.)

  • Certificate of Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of the Korean Company. (It must be issued within 3 months of your visa application date)

  • Invitation letter (preferably in Korean) issued by Korean Company (the inviting Company). It must include applicant's full name, passport number, position, the exact period of visit, the purpose/reasons of invitation, urgency/importance of in-person participation, detailed activity plan, etc. The invitation letter must be as detailed as possible.

  • Certificate of employment (if you are working in Denmark) or Certificate of student (if you are student in Denmark, it must be from your school). It must include the the working position in the company/ identity in the organization, etc.

  • Financial documents to prove affordability to bear the expenses of trip: Payslip for the last 6 months OR Certificate of Danish Bank Balance with Bank Stamp·Signature (Certificate must include current balance, account holder's information such as your name, CPR number, CPR address) OR Guarantee letter issued by your Company// If your employer in Denmark is financially responsible for your trip to the Republic of Korea, Guarantee Letter issued by your employer must be submitted. It must state financial responsibility by employer, and the company must confirm that the applicant is going to the Republic of Korea for work-related events, conferences, etc.

  • Medical Tourism (C-3-3)

  • Residence permit (Visa) for staying in Denmark and one copy.

  • Financial documents to prove affordability to bear the expenses of trip: Payslip for the last 6 months OR Certificate of Danish Bank Balance with Bank Stamp·Signature (Certificate must include current balance, account holder's information such as your name, CPR number, CPR address)

  • A copy of booking on a round-trip plane ticket

  • Proof of accommodation in Korea (ex- Hotel reservation)

  • Employment certificate from your employer or Certificate of registration from your school.

  • Documents proving your medical issues such as a record of diagnosis or a doctor's note.

  • Confirmed doctor's appointment at the Korean hospital.

  • Certificate of Medical Travel Facilitator Registration (의료관광 유치기관 등록증), which must be issued within recent 3 months.

  • Certificate of Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of Korean hospital, which must be issued within recent 3 months.

  • If the applicant is a caregiver of the patient: official family relations document(s) in English to prove relationship to patient (original and copy) and a copy of the patient's passport.

C-4 

Short-term Employment

C-4 visa type applicants are not eligible for K-ETA and must apply for C-4 type visa.


  • Advertisement/ Fashion Model (C-4-5)

  • Certificate of Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of the Korean Company. (It must be issued within 3 months of your visa application date)

  • Certificate from Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) (대중문화예술기획업 등록증)

  • VAX Tax Standard Certificate (부가가치세 과세표준증명/매출과세표준) covering the recent 3 years.

  • Tax Payment Certificate (납세증명서)

  • Letter of Guarantee (신원보증서)

  • Resume/Portfolio (이력서)

  • Parental Consent for Minors (보호자 동의서, 미성년인 경우)

  • Employment Contract per Advertisement/Fashion show with all parties' signature. (It must include the wages/incentives for participation and covenants and rights including copyrights, etc 광고촬영ˑ패션쇼 관련 계약서(광고건별 제출)*

  • *1) 광고주 <-> 초청업체 계약 시: 광고주 <-> 초청업체, 초청업체 <-> 외국인 각 1부 (총 2부)

  • Those seeking to perform at a hotel or entertainment spot other than those described in Article 1 of the Tourism Promotion Act (C-4-5)

  • The recommendation letter of performance from the Motion Pictures Grade Committee

  • Performance plan

  • Certificate of qualification or career

  • Reference


  • Detachment under the Service Contract (e.g. engineers) (C-4-5)

  • Invitation letter issued by the inviting company in Korea

    It must include the period of visit, the purpose/reasons of visit, urgency/importance of in-person service, detailed work plan during the visit such as information of the Machinery that engineers will work on during the visit. Furthermore, it must state the reason why foreign engineers are preferred over Korean engineers(e.g. the service can be only provided by foreign engineers). The invitation letter must be as detailed as possible.

  • Certificate of Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of the Korean Company. (It must be issued within 3 months of your visa application date)

  • Contract of service contract, including all parties' signatures or stamps, or a purchase order (mentioning the provision of manpower or supervision Work)

  • Guarantee letter issued by your company in Denmark

    It must verify your employment status, date and purpose of visit and state that your company proves affordability to bear the expenses of the trip and detaches you to Korea for the service contract


  • "Those working in IT (Information Technology), E-business, BT (Bio-Technology), NT (Nano-Technology), new composite material, transportation facilities, digital appliances, or environmental energy.(C-4-5)

  • A certificate of employment

  • Recommendation Letter from the minister of relevant ministries(Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Science, ICT and Future planning), A copy of certificate of business registration

  • Certificate of Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of the Korean Company. (It must be issued within 3 months of your visa application date)


  • Participation in Sport Matches/ Competitions

  • Eligibility: Referee of Sports Matches, Professional Athletes, etc., who participate in competitions and matches in exchange for wages or remuneration (excluding prize Money). Including artists who participate in art exhibitions and sell their artworks to make profit

  • Certificate of Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of the Korean Company. (It must be issued within 3 months of your visa application date)

  • Invitation letter issued by the inviting company in Korea

    It must include applicant's full name, passport number, position, the exact period of visit, the purpose/reasons of invitation, urgency/importance of in-person participation, detailed work plan, etc. The invitation letter must be as detailed as possible.

  • A copy of Employment Contract between the invitior and applicant (original and copy). Salary and remuneration should be indicated in the contract.


D-1 

Cultural Arts

  • A person who is invited by Korean Foundation (KF, 한국교류재단) or Arts Council Korea (ARKO, 한국문화예술위원회) in order to engage in cultural artistic activities for more than 90 days

  • Letter of invitation from Korean Foundation or the Arts Council Korea, which must be issued within the recent 3 months.

  • A copy of certificate of business registration (사업자등록증명) of Korean Foundation or the Arts Council Korea, which must be issued within the recent 3 months.

  • Letter from applicant’s institution to confirm affiliation, issued within 1 month.

  • Document proving the institution is cultural-arts-oriented.

  • Proof of applicant’s financial ability to afford living expenses in Korea - three months bank statements duly certified by bank in Denmark with sufficient balance.


  • Others

  • You must have been issued a "Visa Confirmation Number" from the Immigration Office in Korea.

Study Abroad

  • Exchange Students (D-2-6) / Visiting Students (D-2-8)

*With General Required Documents as above (Bank account statement exemption is explained below), you must bring all documents altogether. 

Note that we do not confirm/reply how to prepare each details of application documents. 

Applicant is responsible for preparing documents by oneself - Screening process only starts upon application submission to Consular Officer.

  • Certificate of Admission letter(표준입학허가서) from the the host university of Korea; it must include student's signature.

  • Certificate of Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of the host university from Korea, which must be issued within recent 3 months.

  • Certificate of Danish Bank Balance is not required if the host university of Korea is an IEQAS (Accredited or Excellent Accredited) University.

  • Documents may be added depending on the host university of Korea. You will be notified of the additional documents in case If It is needed.


  • Full-time Bachelor's (D-2-2)/ Master's (D-2-3)/ Doctoral's (D-2-4) Degree Program

  • Certificate of Admission letter(표준입학허가서) from the the host university of Korea; it must include student's signature.

  • Certificate of Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of the host university from Korea, which must be issued within recent 3 months.

  • Certificate of Danish Bank Balance is not required if the host university of Korea is an IEQAS (Excellent Accredited/Accredited) University.

  • Documents may be added depending on the host university of Korea and the nationality of applicants. You will be notified of the additional documents in case If It is needed.


  • Research Study (D-2-5)

  • Eligibility: A person who plans to engage in a specific research at a college, undergraduate/graduate college established in accordance with Higher Education Act, or a college established in accordance with the Special Act // the Embassy only accepts applicants of Danish nationals who hold Master Degree in Denmark.

  • Certificate of Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of the host university from Korea, which must be issued within recent 3 months.

  • Confirmation of Foreign Research Student(외국인연구생 확인서) written by the President of the University from Korea. // It must include official stamp by the president of the university from Korea. (Invitation letter written by a professor will not be considered as such.)

  • Proof of Final Academic Record: Original Diploma with Apostille by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark  https://um.dk/en/travel-and-residence/legalisation-frontpage

  • Only those holding Master's Degree or higher can apply.

  • Proof of Financial Ability to Study in Korea(Choose one of the followings)

  • Danish Bank Statements issued within 30 days (if you are paying for yourself)

  • Confirmation of Payment of Studying Allowance(연구수당 지급 확인서) written by the university from Korea (if the university is paying for you)

  • Guarantee Letter(신원보증서) written by the university from Korea (if the university is paying you)

D-4 

General Training

  • Those who study Korean at language school attached to a university (D-4-1).
    // Not applicable to a private educational institution attendees

  • Certificate of Admission letter(표준입학허가서) from the the host university of Korea; it must include student's signature.

  • Certificate of Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of the host university from Korea

  • Bank statement. It is not required if the host university of Korea is an IEQAS University. (Please  click here  to check if your host school is an IEQAS University.)

  • Certificate of final education. It is not required if the host university of Korea is an IEQAS University. (Please  click here  to check if your host school is an IEQAS University.)

Long-Term News Coverage

  • Eligibility: Correspondents dispatched to branches or offices of an established news organizations in Korea.

  • Employment Certificate produced by the current employer

  • Dispatch Order produced by the current employer

  • An Establishment Permit for Domestic Branch·Office or Inflow of operational fund

  • Certificate of Business Registration (사업자등록증명) of the Existing Branch Office in Korea

D-6 

Religious Affairs

  • A person who is engaged only in social welfare invited by a Korean religious body or social welfare organization.

  • A warrant of detachment

  • A copy of the permit for foundation of religious body or social welfare organization

  • A document Proving Relevant Organisation’s Financial Support for the Applicant’s Expenses

Intra-Company Transfer

  • Intra-Company Transferee (Domestic Company) (D-7-2)

  • Eligibility: A person who has worked for at least 1 year or more at an overseas corporation or branch of a public organization or a listed company, and is dispatched to headquarters or head office in ROK for training or teaching professional knowledge·technology


  • Intra-Company Transferee (Foreign Company) (D-7-1)

  • Eligibility: A person who has worked for at least 1 year or more at a foreign public institution or headquarters / branch / or any other offices of a foreign company, and is dispatched to the affiliates, subsidiary, or branch in ROK in a field requiring expertise

  • You must have been issued a "Visa Confirmation Number" from the Immigration Office in Korea.

  • "APPLICATION FOR VISA For those in possession of visa eligibility certificate", which you receive from the immigration office in Korea. Please do not forget to sign at the bottom. Corporate Investment

  • A dispatch warrant or a certificate of incumbency

International Trade

  • Technician (Ship Building) (D-9-3)

  • Eligibility : A person who is dispatched for the supervision of ship-building and/or industrial facilities manufacturing (dispatched by professional services company, assigned by the ordering individual/company)

  • Letter issued by Denmark to verify your employment status, date and purpose of visit (It must be issued within recent 1 month).

  • Invitation letter issued by Korean Company, which must include information like date, purpose and duration of visit...etc.

  • Certificate of Business Registration of Korean company (사업자등록증명), which must be issued within recent 3 months.

  • Certificate of annual tax payment (연간납세사실증명서) of Korean company issued within the last 30 days.

  • Dispatch order from buyer company.

  • Trade contract.


  • Technician (Industrial Machinery) (D-9-2)

  • Eligibility: A person who is dispatched or invited to a company adopting industrial facilities (machinery), to provide technologies required for the installation/operation/maintenance of the equipment

  • Letter issued by Denmark to verify your employment status, date and purpose of visit (It must be issued within recent 1 month).

  • Invitation letter issued by Korean Company, which must include information like date, purpose and duration of visit...etc.

  • Certificate of Business Registration of Korean company (사업자등록증명), which must be issued within recent 3 months.

  • Eligibility: Child born from the marital relation (by common law) with Korean nationals, who wish to stay for long-term and obtain permanent residency
